The SMART Scholarship Program 2023/2024 is a highly prestigious opportunity for STEM students. After graduation, scholars are obligated to work for the DoD for some time, equal to the number of years they received the scholarship. The acceptance rate for the SMART Scholarship Program is shallow, typically around 5%. In 2022, there were 3,100 applicants for 150 scholarships.

DOD SMART Scholarship

The term DOD SMART Scholarship and SMART Scholarship are used interchangeably. They are the same thing. The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program gets fund from the Department of Defense (DoD). The program aims to expand the number of civilian scientists and engineers who work at DoD laboratories and facilities.
